OUR VINEYARDS

It is our belief that our own yield of high-quality grapes is the key to the creation of fine wine. Therefore LOVICO SUHINDOL winery manages around 300 hectares of vineyards in the vicinity of Suhindol. Our main vineyards are in Alchaka and Star Dimcha - two local areas with climatic and soil characteristics that are perfect for vine-growing. Our vines are of different age - from ones just reaching their fruit-bearing stage to 30 plus years old plants. It is an interesting fact that the total length of all rows of vine in our vineyards is equal to the road distance between Suhindol and Venice in Italy.

The main grape varieties we cultivate are the indigenous Gamza, as well as the traditional Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat. In implementation of our special company programme for viticultural development we are planting new vine masiffs of French grape breeds such as Petit Verdot and Malbec, and we are also taking steps to increase and renovate our masiffs of Gamza.

The different concepts for viticultural development through are show in the different constructions of our vine massifs. Wide and narrow-trimmed cordons, Umbrella and Cordon de Royat types of canopy construction may be seen in our vineyards.

At LOVICO SUHINDOL we have our own fleet of modern viticultural machines and equipment for proper melioration and care of our vineyards.
